Trademark Renewal Management Guide
Step 1: Look up your registration
Enter the KIPO registration number of the trademark you want to manage, or upload an Excel file. Brandit automatically retrieves the following from KIPO:
- Trademark name (word, figurative, or combined)
- Right holder information
- Registration date and current renewal cycle
- Expiration date and estimated renewal fee
- Designated classes and goods/services
Step 2: Monitor deadlines
Registered trademarks appear in the managed list at a glance. Brandit sends automatic reminders as the expiration date approaches:
- 1 year before expiration: first email (renewal window opens)
- 6 months before expiration: second email + dashboard banner
- 3 months before expiration: third reminder
- After expiration (grace period): weekly alerts for 6 months
Step 3: Choose renewal scope and request filing
Select the designated classes you want to renew and check out — Brandit files the renewal application on your behalf. Select multiple items for bulk payment:
- Renew all classes or a selected subset
- Renewal application drafted and filed with KIPO automatically
- Guaranteed filing within the statutory deadline
- Receipt and renewal certificate emailed after acceptance
Step 4: Long-term management
Trademarks can be renewed every 10 years indefinitely. Brandit automatically manages the next cycle:
- Next 10-year deadline set automatically
- Right holder information updated on transfer
- Guidance provided when use evidence is requested
- Renewal history and receipts accessible from the managed list
