Whether the grace period is three months or six, and whether restoration is available afterwards, is reported inconsistently. Printing a settled figure here would itself be the risk, so this manual sets out where the sources disagree and manages to the shorter reading.

2. Anchor date and due-date calculation
The anchor is the filing date. Renewal falls due on its tenth anniversary, with the window opening during the final year of the term.

3. The renewal window
- The window opens during the final year of the term.
- Renewal completes on payment and requires no proof of use.
- Foreign proprietors proceed through a local agent.
- Where the UAE is designated through an international registration, renewal goes to WIPO and the uncertainty over grace and restoration does not arise.

5. Lapse and restoration
Whether restoration is available after the grace period is likewise reported inconsistently. The safe course is to manage as though it is not, and to ask the local agent about restoration only if a case actually goes past the date. Do not build a schedule that assumes it.
6. Official fees
Official fees in the UAE are high. A direct filing is reported at around AED 6,700 for a single-class registration, and the individual fee for designations through an international registration is CHF 1,420 per class — the highest in the Madrid system.

7. Management checklist
- The filing date, from which expiry is derived.
- Manage the grace period as three months; do not extend on the strength of the six-month sources.
- Assume restoration is unavailable.
- Confirm which legislation applies with the local agent and keep the basis on the case.
- Whether the case is a direct filing or a Madrid designation, the latter carrying the highest individual fee.
- Fees require local confirmation at the time of quoting.
