A practice manual for renewing Indonesian trade mark registrations. Indonesia is narrow at both ends. Nothing can be filed before the six months preceding expiry, and nothing can be revived once six months have passed after it. In practice there is a single twelve-month window, and for half of it the fee schedule doubles.

2. Anchor date and due-date calculation
The anchor is the filing date, and renewal falls due on its tenth anniversary.
Worked example
For a registration filed 2020-06-15, the dates are as follows.
| Item | Formula | Date |
|---|---|---|
| Filing becomes possible | Expiry − 6 months | 2029-12-15 |
| Renewal due | Filing + 10 years | 2030-06-15 |
| Grace ends (doubled schedule) | Due date + 6 months | 2030-12-15 |
| Thereafter | Refiling only | — |
| Next due date | Every 10 years thereafter | 2040-06-15 |
3. The renewal window
- The window opens six months before expiry; the request is not available before that.
- Renewal completes on request and payment, with no separate declaration of use.
- Where Indonesia is designated through an international registration, renewal goes to WIPO.
- The fee schedule is revised fairly often, so check the current one at the time of filing.
4. Grace period and fees
| Item | Detail |
|---|---|
| Grace period | 6 months from the due date |
| Fee | A separate schedule — IDR 7,000,000 standard / 2,000,000 small business, per class |
| Structure | Not a surcharge on top; the schedule itself is doubled |
| If missed | The right lapses — no restoration |
5. Lapse and restoration
After the six-month grace period the registration is gone and no procedure revives it. Only a fresh application remains. Indonesia sees a fair volume of pre-emptive filings, so the gap itself is the exposure.
6. Official fees and reduction
| Band | Standard (IDR) | Small business (IDR) |
|---|---|---|
| Renewal fee, per class | 3,500,000 | 1,000,000 |
| Within the grace period, per class | 7,000,000 | 2,000,000 |
7. Management checklist
- The filing date, from which expiry is derived.
- A separate reminder for the window opening date six months before expiry, since nothing is accepted earlier.
- Whether the case is a direct filing or a Madrid designation, since designations renew at WIPO.
- The class count, since fees are per class.
- Small business eligibility, which cuts the fee to roughly a third.
- The fee schedule current at the time of filing, given frequent revisions.
- There is no restoration, so do not plan around the grace period.
Sources, cut-off date and disclaimer
This manual is based on iphere's August 2026 survey of country-by-country overseas maintenance rules, together with values produced by the deadline engine that runs on those same rules. Official fees and deadline rules change by office notice, so please confirm against the official source and your local agent before any actual payment or filing.
